Kate Dronen says the Great Basin Orthopaedics (GBO) physical therapy (PT) clinic is the best she’s ever experienced. And that’s saying something, as she has had many physical therapy appointments in her life.
“I started doing PT in 1989 after a shoulder injury,” she says. “Then I had to go back after they found cancer in my left forearm, and I had to regain strength there.”
She has also gone to physical therapy for back problems throughout the years.
The retired Washoe County School District IT professional discovered GBO PT after having her knee replaced by GBO’s Dr. Christopher Dolan in June of 2019. She primarily worked with Amy Wehenmeyer, PT, but she also worked with other therapists while Wehenmeyer was on vacation.

“I loved every one of them,” she says. “I liked that a therapist worked on me every time, only moving me over to technicians as I got better.”
She adds, “It was such a caring facility overall with a really nice atmosphere. Even the people I didn’t work with would come over to see how I was doing.”
Dronen finished up PT in early September and is now staying in shape working out with a trainer and doing the exercises Wehenmeyer prescribed for her. She says she can now do everything she wants to, which mostly involves cheering on her grandchildren at their soccer, basketball and football games.
