The surgeon other doctors recommend

By Sarah Brown

Knowing that I needed some pretty invasive and long recovery surgeries to remedy some genetic defects, I began the due diligence process. First, I went to Yelp and asked people I knew for recommendations which resulted in two doctor consults. I left both feeling unconfident with their expertise for what I needed; possibly like they didn't want to do it, but I cannot be sure. That was not a good feeling at all.

I've always fared well asking doctors who they'd send a loved one to for 'XYZ' condition. So, I went to a couple of my trusted doctor friends for their recommendations. Both recommended Dr. Hayes at GBO without hesitation.

In my experience with Dr. Hayes, I appreciated the following:

  • He was very honest about my condition and let me know there were potential variables and unknowns. He gave me different directions it could go, and I appreciated this real approach.
  • The entire process from consult and pre-surgery to day-of surgery and post-op to the now (long) healing phase, I have felt 110% confident in Dr. Hayes.
  • He has a long history with vast experience. This always makes me feel better whether it's a lawyer, a manicurist or — especially — a surgeon!

I don't think I could have picked a better place or a better doctor for something so unpleasant but mandatory. I cannot recommend him enough!
