BIO

Originally from Selma, Alabama, David “Bama” Whitt grew up with a deep appreciation for sports, movement, and the mindset required to perform at a high level—earning him the nickname “Bama” early in life. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of South Alabama, he pursued his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at The University of Utah, where the blend of high-level athletics and a thriving outdoor community strengthened his passion for rehabilitation.

Transitioning from athlete to coach sparked David’s interest in the recovery and performance side of sports, ultimately guiding him toward physical therapy. While in Salt Lake City, he completed a neurologic clinical rotation that focused heavily on the care of amputees. Working closely with this patient population revealed a new and meaningful path for him, igniting a strong interest in helping individuals rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence following limb loss.

David brings a unique combination of orthopaedic training and neurologic insight to his work, allowing him to approach amputee rehabilitation with a comprehensive and individualized perspective. His clinical philosophy centers on bridging the gap between neurological and orthopaedic care—supporting patients as they return to the activities they love and perform at their highest level.

When he’s not in the clinic, David makes the most of every season. He enjoys snowboarding in the winter, hiking during the warmer months, and cheering on Alabama football—especially when they’re “whoopin’ tail.” Roll Tide.
