BIO

Grant Cooper is a science nerd. Not only does he really like science, but he’s good at it — as in, he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in chemistry. Pair that with a passion for helping others and Grant found himself drawn to a career in health care.

After exploring several fields, Grant settled on physical therapy. What appealed to him, compared to other medical fields, was the ability to address a variety of patient conditions, and the opportunity to spend a lot of time with each patient. Grant earned a Bachelor of Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno, then attended a Top 5 Physical Therapy School, the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine, where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. After a year working at another orthopaedic practice, Grant joined Great Basin Orthopaedics (GBO).

At GBO, Grant works with both post-operative and non-operative patients, helping them return to health and mobility. He starts by listening to each patient and treating them according to their specific concerns and needs. He works to establish a rapport and strives to make each patient feel comfortable and encouraged throughout the recovery process. While he is an physical therapy generalist, Grant particularly enjoys working with lower extremities in post-operative patients.

Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Grant is happy to be practicing in his hometown alongside his mentor and longtime friend Joel Peck, Director of Physical Therapy at GBO. Married since 2017, Grant and his wife are expecting their first child in spring of 2022. When he’s not helping his patients regain their mobility, he enjoys hiking and exploring Lake Tahoe with his family. Grant had been attending University of Nevada football and basketball games since he was a baby and looks forward to continuing the tradition with his own child.
