BIO
Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Eleanor Holguin grew up on soccer fields, ski mountains, and the lakes that define the region’s outdoor lifestyle. Her passion for athletics led to her playing collegiate soccer—first at a junior college in Washington, then back home with the University of Nevada, Reno women’s team. After graduating, Eleanor wasn’t ready to step away from sports and spent time as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Reno 1868 FC, an experience that deepened her understanding of athletic performance, resilience, and injury prevention.
Eleanor’s work with athletes sparked a strong interest in sports and orthopaedic rehabilitation. She transitioned into clinical care as a physical therapy technician at an orthopaedic clinic, where she spent
two years building foundational skills and learning firsthand how movement, recovery, and individualized treatment intersect. Motivated to advance her training, Eleanor moved to Nashville to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Belmont University, graduating in August of 2025.
Returning to Reno felt like the right next step, and Eleanor is proud to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the Great Basin Orthopaedics team. Eleanor’s background in competitive athletics and strength and conditioning shapes her treatment philosophy, emphasizing functional movement, improved mechanics, and personalized care for patients of all ages and activity levels. She is committed to evidence-based treatment, clear communication, and long-term injury prevention.
Outside of the clinic, Eleanor and her husband spend most of their time outdoors—skiing throughout the winter, hiking local trails, and enjoying long days at the lake. No matter where she has lived, Reno remains the place she always returns to, and its active, outdoor spirit continues to influence both her life and her work.
