Nikki Hannon’s path to Great Basin Orthopaedics (GBO) began when she was in high school and found herself at the GBO clinic, sidelined with a sports injury. Multiple injuries – and successful outcomes – later, Nikki had a strong appreciation for the orthopaedic specialists who helped her get back to the sports she loved. As a Physician Assistant with GBO, she credits those experiences with launching her career path.
During college, Nikki returned to GBO as an undergraduate intern, shadowing hand and wrist specialist Dr. Timothy Dooley. While pursuing her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies, she did a clinical rotation with GBO joint replacement specialist Dr. Jessell Owens. As she completed her degree, Nikki knew she wanted to work in a patient-centered practice and was delighted to have the opportunity to join GBO.
Nikki’s training includes orthopaedics, as well as emergency medicine, physical therapy, pediatrics, women’s health, and neurosurgery. This broad experience enhances her understanding of patient health and offers her a well-rounded skillset. She has a particular interest in knee and hip surgeries and sports medicine, which she attributes to her active lifestyle.
While Nikki was raised in Portola, California, she has called Reno, Nevada home for most of her life. Like many locals, she appreciates the outdoor opportunities the region has to offer, and particularly enjoys mountain biking and hiking. She is a proud first-generation college graduate and credits her strong work ethic to her upbringing in a hardworking family.
Dr Hayes helps me with my Plantar Fasciitis. He always offers alternative ways to mediate the pain and also takes care of my concerns. I've been going to him for years and he's amazing every time. Thank you!
The staff at Great Basin are the best I've ever encountered. I can't pick just one because they all work so well together and step in when needed to complete a task. I really thought it was amazing. AND all were so friendly and interested.
Doctor Timothy Dooley is the 'ideal' doctor, someone who validates my pain, listens to my problem and treats me with respect and courtesy and he laughed at my silly jokes. Smile and personality that put me at ease! Thank you for being you.
