BIO
Cindy Hartman was born in Truckee, California, and spent her childhood in small, remote mountain towns where she learned the value of hard work and developed her love of nature. She headed south to pursue her education, but returned to her beloved Sierra Nevada mountains to build her career.
Cindy attended Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, Texas, to study occupational therapy. While raising her three children there, Cindy was very active in the community, volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, working at local food pantries, helping women and children at homeless shelters, volunteering as a trail and kayak guide, serving local refugees, assisting in school classrooms, and serving on various education boards.
After graduating with a Master of Occupational Therapy, Cindy returned to the Reno Tahoe area. She has worked as an occupational therapist, specializing in occupational hand therapy and upper extremity injuries at various clinics in Truckee and Reno. In 2018, she became a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and is one of the area's few certified specialists. Formal and informal education fill her spare time as she is passionate about neurologic and pain sciences. Her post-professional doctorate degree research is focused on occupational therapy’s role in treating chronic pain through a neuroscience-based approach.
Taking a whole-person approach to treatment, Cindy enjoys getting to know each patient and the stories behind the hands she treats. She is excited to be a part of Great Basin Orthopedics’ therapy team and is committed to quality, personalized patient care.
On any given weekend, Cindy can be found exploring the outdoors. She enjoys mountain biking, backpacking, day hiking, backcountry skiing, kayaking, and horseback riding. She also enjoys running, listening to podcasts, reading, taking road trips, and spending quality time with her friends and family, including her three adult children.
If you are seeking hand occupational therapy in Reno, call Great Basin Orthopaedics at 775.786.1600 for a consultation. As a Certified Hand Therapist, Cindy is skilled in treating all upper extremity conditions, including the wrists, elbows, upper arms, and hands, offering occupational therapy as a comprehensive treatment option.

Dr Hayes helps me with my Plantar Fasciitis. He always offers alternative ways to mediate the pain and also takes care of my concerns. I've been going to him for years and he's amazing every time. Thank you!
Doctor Timothy Dooley is the 'ideal' doctor, someone who validates my pain, listens to my problem and treats me with respect and courtesy and he laughed at my silly jokes. Smile and personality that put me at ease! Thank you for being you.
Explained well, attentive to patient needs-so pleased I chose to see Dr. Hayes.
Dr. Kieckbusch showed me the x-rays and explained the problem and said when I was ready he would correct the problem. Very good personality and explained it so I understood it. Will definitely go back when I'm ready.
Always professional, courteous and compelling for me, the patient, to do exercises that enhance performance. I am challenged to exercise Amy's list of items so I can get better through each appointment. VG!
